From 7-10 September 2023, Tsao Foundation organized “Workshop on Long-Term Care”, at FWCA Fort Canning Hotel, Singapore.
The conference is an activity under the framework of the “Alliance on Longevity in Asia-Pacific” (ALAP). The Alliance is coordinated by the Singapore-based Tsao Foundation. The conference was chaired by Dr. Mary Ann Tsao – Chairwoman of Tsao Foundation along with senior leaders of Tsao Foundation.
This workshop aims to share our experience and address crucial aspects of community-based eldercare – the ongoing health and social needs of older people and their caregivers who require assistance in their daily lives so they can continue to be active and have quality of life. The workshop will discuss the guiding principles, essential components, roles played by various stakeholders, and the approach to designing community long-term care from both a population health, systems, and person-centered standpoint.
A representative of HelpAge International in Vietnam attended, contributed, and shared opinions at the Workshop. Along with that, representatives of ALAP Alliance members from Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Nepal, and Bangladesh participated in the workshop.
Designed as a blend of instructive and experiential learning, the workshop will provide comprehensive insights into community long-term care. The program will culminate in a project development exercise that spotlights participants’ respective countries. Our approach strikes a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application through in-house sessions and engaging field visits.
After the Workshop, in the morning of 10 September 2023, Alliance members also met, shared, and discussed the next direction for ALAP Alliance members in the coming time.
