Project VIE090 – Monitoring and Technical support

Within the framework of Project TA9928/VIE090, from September to October 2023, HelpAge International in Vietnam (HAI) coordinated with national ADB consultants to support Thanh Hoa Provincial Association of the Elderly (AE) and Hoa Binh Provincial AE together with local AEs successfully organized monthly case management meetings at the village level, monthly Commune Community Care Coordinating Committee (CCCCC) meetings, and quarterly District Community Care Coordinating Committee (DCCCC) meetings. This is one of the important and regular activities of the Project to improve capacity and provide technical support to localities.

Attending the CCCCC were representatives of members of the Commune Committee such as the Head of the Commune Committee in charged by the Vice President of the Commune People’s Committee, and the Chairman/Vice Chairman of the Commune AE who was also the Deputy Head of Commune Committee, Head of Commune Health Station, Case Managers, Case Manager Associates, Commune Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs officers, etc.; Attending the meeting of the DCCCC were representatives of members of the District Committee such as the Head of the Committee in charged by the Vice President of the District People’s Committee, the Chairman/Vice Chairman of the District AE stands for Deputy Head of the Committee, District Health Center, Department of Labor – War Invalids and Social Affairs, District Women’s Union, District Fatherland Front, District Red Cross, Heads of Commune Committee (Vice President of Commune People’s Committee), Case Managers, etc.

A monthly case management meeting in Que Kho village, Tu Son commune, Kim Boi district, Hoa Binh province

Meetings were held from 25 – 29 September, from 1-6 October, and from 24-27 October 2023 in the project sites in Vinh Loc district, Thanh Hoa province and in the project sites in Kim Boi district, Hoa Binh province. The goal of the meetings is to support the local AEs, Case Managers, Case Manager Associates, and local authorities to organize monthly/quarterly meetings to:

  • Share and update the implementation status of activities: Comprehensive Needs Assessment for older people in the month; development of care plans based on the care foci determined for each case/older person; Implementing care activities according to the care plans per case/older person (if any);
  • Share difficult issues, problems, and lessons learned during implementation; discuss solutions for problems/challenges;
  • Discuss and agree on the plan for the next month/quarter.

To ensure sharing and updating the operating situation, sharing difficulties as well as exchanging and discussing to find solutions for challenges that the locality is facing in a timely, case management meetings are held monthly at the village and commune levels, and quarterly at the district level.
